{"id":340,"date":"2019-08-30T13:01:16","date_gmt":"2019-08-30T13:01:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/coventry.domains\/learn\/?p=340"},"modified":"2019-09-09T16:06:34","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T16:06:34","slug":"themes-and-customisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/coventry.domains\/learn\/themes-and-customisation\/","title":{"rendered":"Themes and Customisation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With WordPress, it&#8217;s easy to change the entire look and feel of your site in just a few clicks &#8211; without changing any of the <a href=\"http:\/\/coventry.domains\/learn\/build\/posts-and-pages\/\">page or post<\/a> content you&#8217;ve created.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your site&#8217;s <strong>theme<\/strong> dictates things like colours, typography, layout, animations and more. The WordPress <strong>Customizer<\/strong> allows you to change some of these settings individually, depending on your theme.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have a look at this video or read this post to see how you can change the appearance of your site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ty2d9iU2ufs\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What your theme does<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By default, new installations of WordPress will use the theme <strong>Twenty Nineteen<\/strong>. You can have as many themes as you like installed on your WordPress site, but <strong>you can only ever have one active theme<\/strong>. It&#8217;s usually worth reading through a theme&#8217;s reviews (if it has any) before you install it. These can be seen on the theme preview page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use the free for freemium themes in the repository, or, if you&#8217;re comfortable doing do, you can also buy premium themes from third party sites. To save your changes and to push your changes live, click on <strong>Publish <\/strong>at the top of the customizer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you see a blue pencil editing icon next to an item in the page preview window, you can click it to take you to the relevant setting within the customizer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Themes and customisation are a great way to give your site a completely different look in an instant.
